This research makes it clear that it’s very important for your brand to have a strong presence in the search engines, ensuring that you’re in front of your target audience. However, there’s still a big decision to make – whether to use SEO(Search Engine Optimization) or PPC (Pay-Per-Click )to get in front of your target?
Done correctly, both can get you on the front page of the search engines for targeted terms and in front of your desired audience. However, each has its respective benefits and costs. And sometimes its hard to pick the right service for your company.
So should we use SEO or PPC, or maybe even both?
What is Search Engine Optimization Advertising?
SEO is a marketing discipline focused on growing visibility in organic (non-paid) searchengine results. SEO encompasses both the technical and creative elements required to improve rankings, drive traffic, and increase awareness in search engines.
There are many aspects to SEO, from the words on your page to the way other sites link to you on the web. Sometimes SEO is simply a matter of making sure your site is structured in a way that search engines understand.
So you basically have to optimize your website and content to rank higher in organic search results for targeted keywords on the most impactful search engines: Google, Yahoo, and Bing. And it also makes sure that your website is friendlier and better for the people who visit your website.
What is Pay Per Click Advertising?
Pay per click marketing, or PPC, is pretty simple: Search engines like Google and Bing allow businesses and individuals to buy listings in their search results. These listings appear along with the natural, non-paid search results.
These ads are sold in an auction. If someone clicks on your PPC listing, they arrive at your website, you have to pay a certain amount. So, if the amount is $.15 per click and if 100 people click on your PPC listing, then the search engine or PPC service will charge you $15.00.
So what is the right service we should use?
In response to that question, my answer is BOTH!
Pay-Per-Click is one of the fastest ways to ‘jump-start’ your businesses digital marketing efforts with immediate traffic. Just be conscious that Google Ads, for example, requires a bit of experience or training. Google offers this training in their certification process for both Google Ads and Google Analytics, which is free for all businesses.
There is quite a large learning curve, so I highly suggest you take the time to get the certifications. PPC is the quickest way to make an impact online, but it will also provide you with great statistics and data that will directly inform your SEO efforts.
Search Engine Optimization is highlyimportant but, if done properly in accordance to Googles algorithm, it could take a while to generate results and traffic. If your website is brand new, you might be trapped in the “Google Sandbox” for the first few months of your website’s existence. Count on many fluctuations in your rankings, inconsistencies, and heaps of growing pains when beginning your SEO efforts.
So SEO becomes important over time and is a constantly process you HAVE TO work on if you want to stay on the front page and not pay money for every click all the time. Your goal should be to stay on the front page without paying for clicks, and this is what SEO helps you with in the long term.
